IATA DGR– All training from 2023 onward to be Competency Based Training and Assessment

The CBTA training method for the Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) follows the guidelines issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Its purpose: to provide more targeted IATA DGR training for employees.

The goal of the CBTA is to use the necessary tools to clearly establish the training needs for a job function of an individual involved in the chain of transport of a particular dangerous shipment and then ensure that the employee is equipped with the theoretical knowledge and competencies to perform practical work upon completion of training and assessment.

Concentrating on functions and responsibilities rather than a job title or description means that the training provided ensures that a person is competent to perform the function in compliance with Subsection 1.5. of the IATA DGR.

3E Academy offers a range of Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) courses in accordance with the competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) approach outlined by ICAO. Dangerous goods regulations training helps you elevate safety measures in the transportation industry. Our range of DGR courses offers the training required to help personnel complete varying responsibilities relating to the safe transport of dangerous goods. All of these courses are designed to help you stay compliant with the relevant regulations for your industry sector and your job role requirements.

The transition period set by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority (DGCA, Directorate   General of Civil Aviation) for introducing Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) for IATA DGR training expired on 1 January 2023. The mandatory introduction required employers to change IATA DGR training as well as its processes and documentation.

3E Academy is accredited by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority (DGCA, Directorate   General of Civil Aviation)  to provide online, classroom and in-house dangerous goods training for specific well-defined job functions in accordance with the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

On completion of this course -which includes a written examination -candidates will receive a certificate endorsed by the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority (DGCA, Directorate   General of Civil Aviation) All certificate holders are registered with the approval authority.

Our training is not IATA approved as this would add unnecessary and significant cost to our customers.

IATA approval is not required in most countries, including Turkey.  IATA approval does not by default meet the requirements of the national regulator.

The revised provisions adopted to apply the competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) approach to dangerous goods training became mandatory as of January 1, 2023. Since then, the current traditional category (CAT) training system has been replaced by more tailored training modules that are built around the competencies required by individual trainees as part of their role.

For your convenience and to compare the traditional categories (CAT ) with the corresponding new courses, please review the table below.
